Whether you're working with sheet metal design, visualization, data management, or fabrication, there are countless applications available to enhance and expand the capabilities of Autodesk software. But how do you know which apps will truly deliver value and performance?

This is where the new Autodesk Certified Apps program comes in. Designed to help users identify high-quality, reliable solutions, this initiative showcases apps developed by Autodesk partners that have met strict criteria for quality, compatibility, and seamless integration with Autodesk products.

Launched earlier this month, the program initially focuses on certified apps for Autodesk Inventor and Vault. However, it's just the beginning—over time, more Autodesk products and services may join the certified family, offering even greater options for users.

To better understand how these certified apps can drive real business results, let’s look at two companies that have successfully integrated them into their workflows: Fluke Corporation and Elastec/American Marine.

Fluke

Fluke Corporation, a global leader in electronic test equipment, recently transitioned from PTC Pro/INTRALINK 3.4—a system no longer supported by PTC—to Autodesk Vault Professional. Their goal was to migrate without disrupting their engineering and design operations.

Using an Autodesk Certified App called nxMigrator for Pro/INTRALINK from Nexxtsoft, Fluke successfully moved one server to a replicated global environment with 45 seats and 60GB of engineering data. The migration saved over $200,000 in maintenance costs and allowed Fluke to fully integrate its Pro/ENGINEER data into Autodesk Vault.

“I don’t worry about my drive home that some web update might stop a drafter from checking in their drawings. We now have a data management system for Pro/ENGINEER that just works,” says Barry Schaeffer, CAD Manager at Fluke.

Elastec/American Marine, a leading manufacturer of oil spill and environmental equipment, recently won the X PRIZE for designing the most effective oil recovery device. To stay agile and respond quickly to customer requests, the company needed a flexible workflow that could handle custom designs efficiently.

By using Autodesk Inventor along with an Autodesk Certified App called FAB Professional from Striker Systems, Elastec streamlined the process from 3D part models to nested 2D sheet metal files for CNC production. This integration significantly reduced job times, improved prototyping speed, and simplified outsourcing processes.

“With Inventor and Striker Systems, you can nest a week’s worth of work in just an hour,” says Jeff Elliot, Design Engineer for Elastec/American Marine.

In a special podcast for In the Fold, Peter Vinh, Senior Product Manager at Autodesk, explains the importance of the new program and outlines the steps required for an app to earn certification:
