Cicero Box Alarm 1-10-11
On Monday night, the Cicero Fire Department responded to a fire at 5318 West 30th Place and arrived to find a fully involved Chicago bungalow. Recognizing the severity of the situation, they upgraded the incident to a MABAS Box Alarm, which brought in additional units from across MABAS Division 11. Tim Olk was on duty and arrived after the fire had been knocked down. He captured several images of the scene, offering a glimpse into the firefighters' efforts during the response.
The first image shows Cicero firefighters using the basket of Tower 1 to access the roof of the bungalow. They were checking for any signs of fire extension around the chimney, a critical step in ensuring the fire was completely under control. Another image captures firefighters in the rear of the structure, performing overhaul and targeting hot spots. Despite the intensity of the fire, the exposure house was properly protected, suffering only minor heat damage.
