China Exports Large Hydrogenation Reactors for the First Time
Two large forge-welded hydrogenation reactors were loaded in Dalian on the 20th and are set to be shipped to India's petroleum sector. These two units, developed by China Yizhong Group and China Technology Development Corporation, mark the first of their kind to be exported from China.
According to Cai Lianzhong, deputy general manager of China Yizhong Group, each reactor weighs over 500 tons, with an average price of nearly 200,000 yuan per ton. The entire production process—from design to manufacturing—meets international standards, setting a new benchmark for future heavy industrial exports. Currently, China has secured 22 international orders for large-scale reactors, totaling more than 3 billion RMB in contract value.
Hydrogenation reactors play a critical role in oil refining and deep processing of heavy crude oil, serving as essential equipment in the petrochemical industry. Just 19 years ago, the technology was dominated by a handful of developed nations. Through independent innovation, China has overcome major challenges such as large-scale forging and complex welding techniques, achieving full localization of hydrogenation reactor technology. Today, Chinese-made units hold a 90% share of the domestic market and have reached world-class technical standards. This milestone not only highlights China’s growing technological capabilities but also signals its increasing presence in global energy infrastructure.
