Changes in coking product prices not only reflect the operational health and development trends of the coking industry but also directly impact the decision-making processes of enterprises, influencing their strategies and production planning. Moreover, these price fluctuations affect the cost of steelmaking and coal chemical products, making the coking sector a critical area of focus for both industry insiders and external observers.
To support macroeconomic regulation, provide the industry association with relevant coordination information, and offer businesses valuable data for decision-making, the China Coking Industry Association, the Metallurgical Industry Price Information Center, and the Metallurgy Research Institutes jointly established a comprehensive price monitoring system for coking products. This initiative aims to guide the coking industry toward a more stable and sustainable development path.
At the seminar, for the first time, the price index maps for three key products—coke (with particle sizes ≥25-40 mm and >40 mm), coal tar, and crude benzene—were released, covering the period from April 1994 to February 2006. The base period for the index was set at April 1994, and the calculation method used was the weighted average approach. This marked a significant step forward in providing transparent and reliable price data for the industry.
