The search for John Spoor, a 66-year-old man from McHenry, Illinois, is ongoing on Silver Lake in Kenosha County. The latest update from the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department spokesperson, Sgt. Bill Beth, outlines the current strategy for locating Mr. Spoor. The search will focus initially on the shoreline areas before moving into deeper waters where sonar equipment will be deployed. Assistance from cadaver dogs is also expected later today.
John Spoor was reported missing by his family on Tuesday, and his empty boat was discovered on Silver Lake along with his vehicle parked in the village. Search efforts began late Tuesday night and continued throughout Wednesday, with personnel from various agencies working tirelessly to locate him. These agencies include the Wisconsin DNR, the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department Marine Unit, the Silver Lake Fire Department, the Town of Salem Fire Department, and the Town of Randall Fire Department.
As of the latest update at 1:55 p.m., County Dive Team members were dispatched to the Silver Lake village boat launch for a non-emergency response.
