Recently, Harbin Boiler Factory Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the deep-hole machining of the 300,000 kW nuclear steam generator tube sheet at the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant in Pakistan. The process achieved a 100% qualification rate, with critical parameters such as hole pitch, verticality, and surface finish reaching top-tier standards. This milestone marks the first time that Harbin Boiler has overcome significant challenges in nuclear power equipment manufacturing, demonstrating its advanced technical capabilities and production standards within China. Currently, Harbin Boiler has obtained one of the most prestigious ASME nuclear product certification approvals for international manufacturing, further solidifying its position in the global nuclear industry. This project involved the production of two steam generators for the 300,000 kW pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power plant in Chashma, Pakistan. These components are classified as safety-class I parts and are among the core elements of the nuclear island. As this was Harbin Boiler’s first involvement in manufacturing such critical nuclear equipment, the team faced major technical hurdles, particularly during the deep-hole drilling process of the tube sheet. Over several months, the company conducted extensive process trials, fine-tuned equipment settings, designed specialized tooling, and optimized various parameters. After thorough testing and adjustments, they finalized an efficient drilling plan that effectively addressed one of the most challenging issues in domestic nuclear power production. This achievement not only elevates Harbin Boiler’s technical expertise but also enhances its overall nuclear manufacturing capability to a new level, paving the way for future international projects.
