Build five major agricultural product industry belts

In recent years, in line with the national comprehensive agricultural development strategy of "concentrating resources to address major issues and focusing on key areas," Jilin Province has established five major agricultural product industry belts, including the corn economic belt, soybean economic belt, high-quality rice economic belt, farming area animal husbandry industry belt, and the Changbai Mountain premium specialty product industry belt. These initiatives aim to leverage regional strengths, enhance agricultural efficiency, and promote sustainable development. Jilin is a major corn-producing region, and to transform its natural resource advantages into economic benefits, the province has invested heavily in supporting leading enterprises engaged in corn deep processing. With financial support of nearly 20 million yuan, companies have upgraded their equipment, expanded production capacity, and introduced 37 new corn-based food products across six categories, significantly enhancing the value of local agricultural output. As one of China's key high-quality soybean regions, Jilin has also focused on developing its soybean processing industry. The province has supported projects that now produce 4,000 tons of soybean protein isolates annually, with an additional 10,000-ton project coming online this year. Through contracts with local farmers, over 100,000 mu of land has been dedicated to high-quality soybean cultivation, helping to reshape farmers' planting structures and improve product quality. In the northern rice-growing areas, Jilin has taken steps to improve both quality and marketability. By establishing standardized green and organic rice production bases and supporting leading rice processing enterprises in large irrigation zones, the province aims to increase the added value of rice products. A total of 60 million yuan has been allocated to support key rice processing companies, such as Yufeng Rice and Yifeng Rice, which collectively process 600,000 tons of rice annually. This effort includes a collaborative model involving enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers to ensure efficient and sustainable operations. To further develop the animal husbandry sector, Jilin has invested 200 million yuan in projects aimed at modernizing livestock processing and improving feed production. Major companies like Jilin Deda and Haoyue have seen significant improvements in their production capacities, with some enterprises increasing broiler production by over 67% and achieving substantial sales growth. These efforts have not only boosted farmer incomes but also strengthened the agricultural industrialization process in the region. Leveraging the unique resources of the Changbai Mountains, Jilin has also focused on developing its pharmaceutical industry. Projects such as those led by Shenye and Luye have received financial support for GMP reforms and the establishment of GAP-certified medicinal material bases. Companies like Dongfeng Pharmaceutical have developed innovative deer product lines, while others have launched new ginseng-based products. These developments have helped elevate the technological content and market value of Jilin’s traditional herbal products. Through these comprehensive agricultural development strategies, Jilin continues to strengthen its position as a key player in China’s agricultural sector, promoting innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.
