This is the second time this year China has raised oil prices. After this increase, the domestic retail price of refined oil products hit a record high after the reform of the refined oil pricing mechanism. The latest adjustment was on February 8, when the retail prices of gasoline and diesel were raised by RMB 300/t.

The price adjustment was only a month or more since the last price adjustment. However, during this period, affected by the geopolitical crisis in Iran, the international oil price rose sharply. The price adjustment rate of 600 yuan per ton is the second largest increase since the introduction of China's refined oil price adjustment mechanism in May 2008. The biggest increase in history came from June 20, 2008, when domestic gasoline and diesel prices rose by 1,000 yuan per ton. In line with this increase, on June 30, 2009, domestic gasoline and diesel prices rose by 600 yuan per ton.

However, there are also industry insiders that, taking into account the current oil price base is far higher than in 2008 and 2009, so the proportion of this increase is not large. The market organization estimates that the average change rate of crude oil prices in the three places referenced by China's oil product price adjustment has exceeded 10%, far higher than the 4% price adjustment reference line, and the corresponding price increase rate is at least 900 yuan per ton.

The prices of gasoline and diesel were raised by RMB 600 per ton, about RMB 0.51 per liter for diesel, and RMB 0.44 per liter for gasoline.
