The first batch of 4,520 small vessels in China will be installed free of charge.

On March 15 , the China Maritime Safety Administration held a ceremony for the Automatic Identification System for Ships ( AIS) (commonly known as the “Clairvoyance of Water”) in Zhaoqing . The first batch of 4,520 small vessels in China will be installed by April 30 this year. The level will be on a new level.
It is understood that due to the small tonnage of the small and medium-sized vessels in the river, the economic affordability is small, and there are certain difficulties in installing the automatic identification system equipment of the ship. In order to solve the problem of inland waterway safety, the China Maritime Safety Administration decided to install and train AIS equipment free of charge for some of the inland navigation vessels that are engaged in public welfare transportation.
The installation scope is for high-grade navigation channels of Grade IV and above in the Inland River (including the Heilongjiang and Songhua River systems, the Jinghang Canal and the Huaihe River system, the Yangtze River Delta high-grade channel network, the Yangtze River system, the Pearl River system and the Lancang-Mekong River waters) below 100 tons. Passenger ships, as well as transport vessels sailing on the Lancang-Mekong and Sino-Russian border rivers.
