West of the I in Kenosha County, there's an ongoing search operation underway for John Spoor, a 66-year-old man from McHenry, Illinois. The search is concentrated on Silver Lake, and the latest update comes from Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth.
According to Sgt. Beth, the search efforts will continue today on the waters of Silver Lake. The Incident Command has been assigned to Silver Lake Fire Chief Allison Draeger. The current strategy involves first checking the shoreline areas followed by resuming the sonar search in deeper waters. Today, search teams are also expecting assistance from cadaver dogs. Various agencies are collaborating in this effort, including the Wisconsin DNR, Kenosha Sheriff’s Department Marine Unit, Village of Silver Lake Fire Department, Town of Salem Fire Department, and Town of Randall Fire Department.
John Spoor was reported missing by his family on Tuesday. His unattended boat was discovered on Silver Lake, along with his vehicle parked in the village area. Fire department and law enforcement personnel have been actively searching since around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, continuing until 2 a.m. on Wednesday. They resumed their search from 8 a.m. and continued throughout the day until about 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
An UPDATE at 1:55 p.m. mentioned that County Dive Team members were toned out to respond to the Silver Lake village boat launch, though it was noted as a non-emergency response.
