This message comes from Tim Olk: Firefighters from Deerfield-Bannockburn were dispatched to the Tri-State Tollway this afternoon (March 3, 2016) after a serious collision occurred at the 23.5-mile marker in the southbound direction. Upon arrival, emergency crews found a tractor-trailer that had overturned following a crash with a car. The truck and an SUV were both engulfed in flames, sitting along the center median of the highway. Additional help came from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Department as well as Crash Truck 39 from Prospect Heights. The scene was chaotic and dangerous, with thick smoke rising into the sky. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and ensure no further injuries. No casualties have been reported at this time, but the crash has caused significant traffic delays on the tollway.
