All the other firefighters in red helmets have since retired, but they were a dedicated bunch back then. Some of the folks in the photo now serve with other fire departments in the western suburbs, like Batavia, Carol Stream, Oak Park, Saint Charles, and Naperville.
Drew himself is still active too—he’s now a Deputy Chief over at the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District. Pretty cool, huh?
