Foton Motors joint venture engine mass production this month
The Foton Cummins joint venture engine is set to enter mass production this month, marking a significant milestone for the partnership. This advanced engine will be first introduced in the OMARCO light truck model. It has been revealed that the assembly of the Cummins 3.8L engine for the Omar light truck is already underway and is expected to hit the market in the second half of this month. The starting price will exceed 110,000 yuan, making it the first high-end light truck launched by Foton.
A senior official from Foton Motor's Marketing Department stated that the 3.8L engine paired with the Omarco model is the first light-duty diesel engine Cummins has ever introduced globally. As a result, this product will also be exported as a global model. In addition to meeting domestic demand, Cummins-powered Omarco trucks are planned to be exported to 10 to 15 countries this year. The company aims to sell a total of 10,000 units both domestically and internationally this year.
The 3.8L Cummins diesel engine used in the Omarco model meets the Euro IV emission standards and has the potential to be upgraded to meet European regulations. It offers a fuel consumption reduction of 5% to 7% compared to similar models on the market, while also delivering an increase in maximum power by 10 to 20 kW. Furthermore, the 2.8L Cummins engine is scheduled to enter mass production later this year and will also be integrated into the Omarco lineup.
With these new developments, Foton Cummins continues to strengthen its position in the commercial vehicle market, combining advanced technology with competitive performance.
