· Bosch spent 120 million US dollars to build an electronic control unit smart factory in Mexico

According to foreign media reports, Bosch plans to spend 100 million euros (about 120 million US dollars) to build a smart factory in Celaya, central Mexico, to produce electronic control units (ECUs) for the North American automotive market.
With a planned area of ​​21,000 square meters, the plant is expected to be a typical example of Smart Industry or Industry 4.0. It is estimated that the plant will be completed in 2020 and will add 1200 new jobs.
Stefan Hartung, a member of the Bosch Council, declared in a statement: "Bosch is committed to developing its business in Mexico. The country remains an important market and will be the hub of Bosch's global manufacturing and R&D network."
In recent years, Latin American emerging markets have achieved a high degree of industrialization, which is mainly driven by the automotive industry. In 2017, the total number of cars manufactured in Mexico was close to 3.8 million.
In the past five years, Bosch has spent 2.6 billion euros (about 3.17 billion US dollars) to enhance its influence in the North American market. In 2016, Bosch also built a new manufacturing center in Mexico to produce driving safety systems. At the end of 2017, the company's steering system plant in Querétaro began operations.
Since 2014, Bosch has operated a software development and engineering design service center in Guadalajara, Mexico, which focuses on the US market.
