Autodesk PowerMill, PowerShape and PowerInspect Join Fusion 360 Family, Better Uniting Manufacturing and Design
In September, Autodesk is set to make another significant leap forward in bridging the gap between design and manufacturing with the integration of PowerMill, PowerShape, and PowerInspect into the Fusion 360 family of solutions. Existing users will retain access to the advanced manufacturing functionalities they currently enjoy while gaining entry into the next-generation, cloud-based design and manufacturing technologies offered by Fusion 360, including the upcoming Fusion 360 Machining and Fusion 360 Additive Build extensions scheduled for release in October.
For instance, subscribers to PowerMill Premium will now upgrade to the new “Fusion 360 with PowerMill Ultimate†package, which includes access to the Fusion 360 Machining and Additive Build extensions. Our goal with this transition is to ensure our customers' design and manufacturing processes remain resilient and adaptable in the face of evolving challenges, empowering them to adopt innovative methodologies that enhance efficiency and provide a competitive edge.
This move aligns closely with Autodesk's long-term mission to foster seamless collaboration among designers and engineers, enhancing manufacturers' capacity to streamline workflows, automate processes, and integrate with supply chains. By consolidating technologies onto a unified platform, Fusion 360 offers a cohesive experience across design, engineering, and manufacturing, with data at its core. This centralized approach simplifies the adoption of groundbreaking tools like the recently introduced generative design extension.
Take, for example, MJK Performance, a motorcycle parts manufacturer leveraging the generative design capabilities within Fusion 360 to explore various material and manufacturing method options efficiently. As David Krajci, COO of 3-Dimensional Services Group, noted, "Anything is possible when teammates are fully aligned," particularly evident in their rapid response to Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia's request to produce face-shield headbands for healthcare workers during the pandemic, reducing design-to-production time by up to 40%.
CNC machinist Anthony Wooten at Precise Tooling Solutions highlights the versatility of PowerMill, praising its unrestricted CAM cycles and seamless file transfers between PowerMill and PowerShape, ensuring error-free workflows. He emphasizes the comprehensive toolkit provided by Autodesk, allowing users to manipulate designs dynamically without constraints.
Stephen Hooper, VP and GM of Fusion 360, underscores the unprecedented accessibility of the industry's most robust cloud-based manufacturing platform. With this transition, teams can now incorporate, and in some cases explore for the first time, advanced capabilities into their workflows, further elevating productivity and innovation.
To learn more about this transformative development and other Autodesk innovations, join the Advanced Manufacturing Summit virtual event on August 25th at 8:00 AM Pacific Time, featuring a keynote from Srinath Jonnalagadda, Autodesk's VP of Business Strategy for Design & Manufacturing.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to redefine the future of manufacturing through cutting-edge technology and collaborative platforms.
