From Chi-Town Fire Photos: Early Tuesday afternoon, Cicero fire companies were called to 28th and Cicero Avenue after reports of flames coming from a building. As more calls came in, the address was corrected to 4827 and 4829 W. 28th Street. Engine Company 3 arrived first and reported heavy fire from the rear of a two-and-a-half story wood-frame structure with exposure issues. Shortly after, Cicero Engine 12 reached the scene and quickly contained the fire. They noted heavy flames in two adjacent two-and-a-half story buildings. Multiple 2.5-inch attack lines were deployed from all three Cicero engines. Truck Company 2 made an aggressive Milwaukee-style roof cut, which ultimately helped save the rest of the roof on one of the buildings. Meanwhile, Truck Company 1 was working on the roof of the exposed building, making several openings to control the fire's spread. Mutual aid arrived from several surrounding areas, including Berwyn, Stickney, Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Bedford Park, Lyons, and Riverside. All responding units worked aggressively both inside and outside the structures, managing to prevent further damage and protect the remaining buildings and exposures. The coordinated effort was impressive, showing the professionalism and dedication of the firefighters involved.
