Wintrhop Harbor has been added to the site

Winthrop Harbor, located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the northeast corner of MABAS Division 4, just across the Wisconsin border, is home to a dedicated fire department. Their station is housed within the municipal building alongside the police department, and it features four bays packed with equipment. The department operates nine pieces of apparatus, making it one of the few all-Seagrave departments in Illinois. They have two engines and a 75-foot Meanstick quint, continuing their long-standing tradition of FWD rigs. In fact, they still display FWD logos on their modern Seagrave units. All of their equipment, except for ambulances, is painted white. One of their most notable pieces of history is a restored 1949 FWD engine, which is used for parades and special events. This vintage unit was even taken to Clintonville, Wisconsin, for the Seagrave 125th anniversary celebration. The engine was seen in the parade and captured in several photos, showcasing its historical significance and the pride the department takes in its heritage. A photo from the event shows the 1949 FWD engine in action during the parade, with Bill Friedrich capturing the moment. Another image highlights the officer’s side of the restored engine when it was at Seagrave, offering a glimpse into its original design and condition. A vintage fleet photo from the 1970s, also taken by Bill Friedrich, displays the department's historical collection, including the 1949 and 1952 FWD engines, a 1966 Dodge/Welch mini pumper, a 1963 900 Series American LaFrance engine, a 1973 P-Series Seagrave engine, and a 1974 Ford/Welch squad unit. These images reflect the rich history and evolution of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department over the decades.
